I have felt a deep connection to Weyes Blood's music for years, and even had the chance to see her during her last tour while studying abroad in France. That night made up for the tears, the maladies, the panic, and the loneliness that came with living in a new country. Her American spirit and the songs that had guided me through so much were the first things that made me feel like I was home again. When I discovered Fandiem's sweepstakes, I was thrilled by the win-win opportunity of donating to a fantastic charity plus a chance to see one of my all-time favorite artists again. While I never in a million years expected to actually win, it makes sense that only the mystical universe in which her music exists could allow for such serendipity and good fortune. The show in France was beyond cathartic and I assumed could never be topped, but I have a sneaky suspicion this night in one of the world's most historical concert halls will break some records.
